Beautifully Finished Ebony Wood Hot Foil Stamped Business Card
Capitalising on their own name Woodsmithe decided to go with wood as the base material for their business cards. As they are a design build company it also seemed appropriate that they should design and make the cards as an internal project. The cards took many months to create as they spent time experimenting with various print techniques to see what would work best on the wood they chose to work with. The cards are cleverly made of two layers of ebony wood veneer which have been laminated together to produce a sturdy but lightweight base stock. The sheets were laser cut to a standard business card size. The print technique which trumped all others (beating digital UV and letterpress print processes) was hot foil stamping and ultimately they felt that clear foil on the black wood had the most impact. The result is a lovely contrast between the textured matte black of the wood and the high shine finish of the hot foil stamping.
